Russia’s Trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina totaled $44,536,904, up 81.18% ($19,955,445) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $14,893,438, up 49.43% ($4,926,623) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $29,643,466, up 102.83% ($15,028,822) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $14,750,028, a 217.35% increase ($10,102,199) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 106th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 103rd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0305% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0202% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 115th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 107th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0174% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0139% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 85th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 86th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0487% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0292% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 32.00% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (16.16% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 26.80% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (24.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 19.00% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (43.62% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.74% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (1.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.43% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (3.87% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.96% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (3.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,586,293;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,372,548;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $328,180;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $274,187;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $135,210;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $125,312;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $98,181;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $64,905.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,517,317;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $431,606;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $178,743;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $135,521;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $96,062.

Russia’s Imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 49.79% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (42.17% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 21.96% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (24.87% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.28% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (14.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
