Russia’s Trade with Bulgaria

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Bulgaria was $763,436,423, down 6.82% ($55,891,312) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $616,115,744, down 10.40% ($71,538,077) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $147,320,679, up 11.88% ($15,646,765) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $468,795,065, a 15.68% decrease ($87,184,842) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Bulgaria was Russia’s 38th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 29th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.5222% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.6720% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Bulgaria was Russia’s 32nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 24th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7218% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9558% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Bulgaria was Russia’s 50th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 48th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2422% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2635% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Bulgaria

The major share of Russian exports to Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 74.08% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (86.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.53% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (7.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.83% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (2.25% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.56% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (2.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $140,678,651;
