Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ecuador totaled $341,745,436, up 18.48% ($53,292,712) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $65,338,839, up 21.05% ($11,363,668) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $276,406,597, up 17.88% ($41,929,044) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $211,067,758, a 16.93% increase ($30,565,376) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Ecuador was Russia’s 50th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 47th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2338% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2366% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Ecuador was Russia’s 87th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 73rd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0765% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0750% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Ecuador was Russia’s 31st largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 29th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4544% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4692% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 42.45% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (24.63% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.33% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (33.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.73% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (6.30% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 12.84% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (8.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.10% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (26.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $8,067,440;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,328,947;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $2,187,493;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $1,419,245;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $786,561;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $737,400;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - an increase of $305,405;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $239,543.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $7,277,235;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $6,802,144;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $4,556,284;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $287,367.

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.94% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $47,978,000;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $3,583,931;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $972,232.
