Russia’s Trade with Finland

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Finland totaled $3,048,151,430, up 38.70% ($850,451,623) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Finland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $2,027,695,895, up 30.76% ($477,039,469) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Finland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $1,020,455,535, up 57.71% ($373,412,154) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Finland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $1,007,240,360, a 11.47% increase ($103,627,315) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Finland was Russia’s 14th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 15th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.0851% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.8025% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Finland was Russia’s 12th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 13th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.3755% of Russia’s total exports (up from 2.1553% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Finland was Russia’s 14th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 15th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.6776% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.2947% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Finland

The major share of Russian exports to Finland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 62.43% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (70.42% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.45% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (6.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.37% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (11.88% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.96% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (7.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $29,614,654;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $9,142,544;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $8,100,605;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $7,460,917.
