Russia’s Trade with Ghana

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ghana was $49,102,608, down 3.79% ($1,933,643) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $29,812,607, down 23.85% ($9,337,729) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $19,290,001, up 62.29% ($7,404,086) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $10,522,606, a 61.41% decrease ($16,741,815) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Ghana was Russia’s 102nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 99th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0336% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0419% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Ghana was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 88th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0349% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0544% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Ghana was Russia’s 87th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 92nd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0317% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0238% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ghana

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 53.67% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (11.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.34% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (7.17% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.88% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (73.11% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.64% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (3.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $12,633,414;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $4,600,646;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $956,762.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $24,487,255;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,431,419;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $1,293,226;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $276,348;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $112,275.
