Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Greece totaled $896,911,668, up 41.75% ($264,163,186) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $828,466,292, up 43.43% ($250,865,359) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $68,445,376, up 24.11% ($13,297,827) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $760,020,916, a 45.47% increase ($237,567,532) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Greece was Russia’s 29th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 35th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6135% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5190% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Greece was Russia’s 21st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 26th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9706% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.8028% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Greece was Russia’s 66th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 63rd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1125% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1103% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 78.68% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (59.42% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 19.35% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (38.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.60% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (1.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $308,581,492;
  • Zinc and articles thereof (HS code 79) - an increase of $15,594,134.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $70,281,735;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $3,311,227.

Russia’s Imports from Greece

The major share of Russian imports from Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 26.87% of Russia’s total imports from Greece (31.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.08% of Russia’s total imports from Greece (19.08% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
