Russia’s Trade with India

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with India totaled $2,436,628,623, up 20.19% ($409,270,160) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to India in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $1,723,110,844, up 20.37% ($291,553,816) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from India in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $713,517,779, up 19.76% ($117,716,344) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $1,009,593,065, a 20.80% increase ($173,837,472) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

India was Russia’s 17th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.6668% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.6628% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

India was Russia’s 16th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.0186% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.9898% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

India was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.1730% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.1921% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 33.29% of Russia’s total exports to India (7.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 21.80% of Russia’s total exports to India (25.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 15.41% of Russia’s total exports to India (13.02% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.01% of Russia’s total exports to India (18.72% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.04% of Russia’s total exports to India (5.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.67% of Russia’s total exports to India (5.11% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.71% of Russia’s total exports to India (2.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - an increase of $79,144,688;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $39,512,872;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $28,776,047;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $22,010,598;

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $14,238,415;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $13,128,288;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $11,050,093;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $8,207,077;
