Russia’s Trade with Ireland

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ireland totaled $362,374,377, up 43.83% ($110,430,380) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $96,076,858, up 134.59% ($55,121,541) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $266,297,519, up 26.21% ($55,308,839) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $170,220,661, a 0.11% increase ($187,298) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Ireland was Russia’s 54th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 59th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2479% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2066% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Ireland was Russia’s 69th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 86th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1126% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0569% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Ireland was Russia’s 35th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 36th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4378% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4222% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ireland

The major share of Russian exports to Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 43.63% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (70.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.63% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (21.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.62% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (3.17% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.61% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (3.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,061,886;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $618,611.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 31.85% of Russia’s total imports from Ireland (32.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
