Russia’s Trade with Jordan

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Jordan totaled $35,681,898, up 49.72% ($11,849,034) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $30,239,672, up 53.51% ($10,540,271) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $5,442,226, up 31.66% ($1,308,763) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $24,797,446, a 59.31% increase ($9,231,508) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Jordan was Russia’s 109th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 97th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0244% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0195% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Jordan was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 86th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0354% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0274% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Jordan was Russia’s 95th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 100th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0089% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0083% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Jordan

The major share of Russian exports to Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 85.00% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (69.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.90% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (5.74% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.96% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (1.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.88% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (5.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.14% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (16.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $9,842,620;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,332,074;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $880,861;
  • Live animals (HS code 01) - an increase of $643,500;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $494,318;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $410,456;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $242,956;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $225,438;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $183,795;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $181,417;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $159,758;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $98,067.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,162,162;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $587,247;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $168,161;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $137,388;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $104,746.

Russia’s Imports from Jordan

The major share of Russian imports from Jordan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 84.88% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (82.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 10.53% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (3.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.27% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (11.16% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
