Russia’s Trade with Kazakhstan

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Kazakhstan totaled $4,270,156,464, up 30.63% ($1,001,194,596) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $3,083,390,723, up 28.49% ($683,649,432) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $1,186,765,741, up 36.53% ($317,545,164) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $1,896,624,982, a 23.92% increase ($366,104,268) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 10th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 12th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.9210% of Russia’s total trade (up from 2.6812% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 8th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 10th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 3.6122% of Russia’s total exports (up from 3.3355% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 11th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.9510% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.7392% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Kazakhstan

The major share of Russian exports to Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 23.63% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (24.20% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.41% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (17.11% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.48% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (15.16% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
