Russia’s Trade with Latvia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Latvia was $1,077,824,906, down 0.33% ($3,563,485) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Latvia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $948,040,328, down 4.93% ($49,181,159) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Latvia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $129,784,578, up 54.20% ($45,617,674) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Latvia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $818,255,750, a 10.38% decrease ($94,798,833) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Latvia was Russia’s 24th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7373% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.8869% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Latvia was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 16th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.1106% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.3861% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Latvia was Russia’s 53rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 57th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2134% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1684% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Latvia

The major share of Russian exports to Latvia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 69.33% of Russia’s total exports to Latvia (78.88% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.50% of Russia’s total exports to Latvia (4.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.06% of Russia’s total exports to Latvia (4.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Latvia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
