Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Macedonia was $22,166,003, down 14.52% ($3,764,816) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $2,554,398, down 67.00% ($5,185,058) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $19,611,605, up 7.81% ($1,420,242) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $17,057,207, a 63.20% increase ($6,605,300) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Macedonia was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 95th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0152% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0213% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Macedonia was Russia’s 124th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 91st in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0030% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0108% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Macedonia was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0322% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0364% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 35.73% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.52% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 23.99% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (10.69% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 15.70% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.14% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (9.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.27% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (0.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $24,570;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $14,625;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $12,824.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $5,845,741;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $374,080;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $214,344;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $44,763;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - a decrease of $24,835;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $15,119;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $14,483;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $11,390;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $7,806.

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 18.74% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (17.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.61% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (15.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
