Russia’s Trade with Myanmar (Burma)

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Myanmar (Burma) was $25,592,794, down 2.23% ($583,808) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Myanmar (Burma) in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $9,060,018, down 54.63% ($10,910,219) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Myanmar (Burma) in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $16,532,776, up 166.38% ($10,326,411) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Myanmar (Burma) went from a surplus of $13,763,872 in the 3rd quarter of 2016, to a deficit of $7,472,758 in the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Myanmar (Burma) was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 103rd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0106% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0278% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Myanmar (Burma) was Russia’s 96th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 112th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0272% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0124% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The major share of Russian exports to Myanmar (Burma) in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,456,027;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $555,483;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $291,211;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $196,568;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $190,084;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $100,703;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $91,309;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $85,190.
