Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $113,091,891, up 40.17% ($32,410,174) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $51,583,696, up 72.67% ($21,709,617) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $61,508,195, up 21.06% ($10,700,557) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $9,924,499, a 52.59% decrease ($11,009,060) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Pakistan was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 82nd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0774% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0662% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 78th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 87th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0604% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0415% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 67th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 65th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1011% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1017% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.75% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (11.91% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.01% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (37.69% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.16% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (25.67% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.44% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (2.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.53% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (14.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.58% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (5.47% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $5,598,875;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,536,916;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $2,329,261;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,612,319;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $991,670;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $717,345;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $382,265;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $323,877;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $207,764.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,947,304;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $2,943,204;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $921,926;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $297,378;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $207,896.

Russia’s Imports from Pakistan

The major share of Russian imports from Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 79.46% of Russia’s total imports from Pakistan (72.62% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.67% of Russia’s total imports from Pakistan (5.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.90% of Russia’s total imports from Pakistan (2.59% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.69% of Russia’s total imports from Pakistan (3.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of leather; saddlery and harness; travel goods, handbags and similar containers; articles of animal gut (other than silkworm gut) (HS code 42) - a decrease of $670,536;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $297,926;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $206,294;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $197,102.
