Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $113,091,891, up 40.17% ($32,410,174) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $51,583,696, up 72.67% ($21,709,617) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $61,508,195, up 21.06% ($10,700,557) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $9,924,499, a 52.59% decrease ($11,009,060) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Pakistan was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 84th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0774% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0662% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 89th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 94th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0604% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0415% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 64th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 65th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1011% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1017% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.75% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (11.91% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.01% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (37.69% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.16% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (25.67% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.44% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (2.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.53% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (14.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,947,304;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $2,943,204;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $921,926;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $297,378;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $207,896.
