Russia’s Trade with Portugal

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Portugal was $397,915,306, down 1.02% ($4,105,121) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $255,675,681, down 11.20% ($32,252,295) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $142,239,625, up 24.67% ($28,147,174) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $113,436,056, a 34.75% decrease ($60,399,469) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Portugal was Russia’s 53rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 49th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2722% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3297% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 49th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 41st in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2995% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.4002% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 52nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 50th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2338% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2283% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Portugal

The major share of Russian exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 84.14% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (95.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.06% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (0.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.05% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (1.67% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.29% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (0.82% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.01% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (1.13% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $59,243,776;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,080,547;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $887,202;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $817,087.

Russia’s Imports from Portugal

The major share of Russian imports from Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
