Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $300,235,021, up 23.89% ($57,891,821) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $55,885,203, up 71.83% ($23,361,896) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $244,349,818, up 16.46% ($34,529,925) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $188,464,615, a 6.30% increase ($11,168,029) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Slovenia was Russia’s 59th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 62nd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2054% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1988% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 84th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 93rd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0655% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0452% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 37th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4017% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4198% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 79.29% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (67.21% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.99% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (17.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.37% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (8.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.24% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.49% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.37% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $22,450,575;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,171,817;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $528,186;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $268,249;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $245,640.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $532,668;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $294,336;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $290,010;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $262,920;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $202,064.

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.48% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (6.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.19% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
