Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with South Korea totaled $5,258,715,316, up 16.02% ($726,292,775) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $3,344,931,132, up 13.29% ($392,464,501) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $1,913,784,184, up 21.13% ($333,828,274) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $1,431,146,948, a 4.27% increase ($58,636,227) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

South Korea was Russia’s 7th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 10th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 3.5973% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.7175% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

South Korea was Russia’s 7th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 11th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 3.9186% of Russia’s total exports (down from 4.1038% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

South Korea was Russia’s 7th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 8th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 3.1463% of Russia’s total imports (down from 3.1613% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to South Korea

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 69.95% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (75.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.63% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (11.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
