Russia’s Trade with Tajikistan

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Tajikistan was $160,381,478, down 9.38% ($16,601,312) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $156,238,925, down 7.60% ($12,849,489) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $4,142,553, down 47.53% ($3,751,823) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $152,096,372, a 5.64% decrease ($9,097,666) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Tajikistan was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1097% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1452% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 57th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1830% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2350% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 111th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 99th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0068% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0158% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Tajikistan

The major share of Russian exports to Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 26.31% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (28.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 24.38% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (22.87% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.98% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (17.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 10.15% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (9.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.50% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (5.21% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $557,862;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $510,782;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - an increase of $476,998.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $8,208,930;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,369,576;

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,003,788;
  • Preparations of cereals, flour, starch or milk; bakers’ wares (HS code 19) - a decrease of $909,051;
  • Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - a decrease of $779,339;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $766,530;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $673,582;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - a decrease of $651,393;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $588,944.
