Russia’s Trade with Thailand

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Thailand was $529,087,874, down 13.24% ($80,752,356) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $98,976,118, down 65.19% ($185,320,121) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $430,111,756, up 32.12% ($104,567,765) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $331,135,638, a 702.80% increase ($289,887,886) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Thailand was Russia’s 45th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 49th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3619% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.5002% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Thailand was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1160% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3952% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Thailand was Russia’s 29th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 34th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7071% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.6514% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Thailand

The major share of Russian exports to Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 57.77% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (48.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 19.42% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (5.66% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.38% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (6.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.10% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (2.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.00% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (1.78% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $944,742;
  • Lead and articles thereof (HS code 78) - an increase of $678,768;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $539,016;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $514,809.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $80,690,992;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $10,000,000;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $7,670,408;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $2,465,056;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,988,497;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $818,108;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $664,883;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $554,574;
