Russia’s Trade with Turkey

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Turkey totaled $5,299,829,648, up 38.37% ($1,469,663,512) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Turkey in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $4,464,297,435, up 30.89% ($1,053,520,110) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Turkey in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $835,532,213, up 99.23% ($416,143,402) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Turkey in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $3,628,765,222, a 21.31% increase ($637,376,708) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Turkey was Russia’s 7th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 9th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 3.6254% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.1415% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Turkey was Russia’s 5th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 4th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 5.2300% of Russia’s total exports (up from 4.7408% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Turkey was Russia’s 18th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 27th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.3736% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8392% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Turkey

The major share of Russian exports to Turkey in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 58.73% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (59.77% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 26.08% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (24.16% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.88% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (11.63% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.24% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (2.54% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
