Russia’s Trade with India

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with India totaled $2,757,471,631, up 21.99% ($497,051,367) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to India in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $2,019,398,978, up 24.92% ($402,907,447) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from India in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $738,072,653, up 14.62% ($94,143,920) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $1,281,326,325, a 31.75% increase ($308,763,527) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

India was Russia’s 16th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.6497% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.6588% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

India was Russia’s 16th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 15th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.9632% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.9281% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

India was Russia’s 21st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 22nd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.1482% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.2281% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 25.42% of Russia’s total exports to India (30.30% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 18.62% of Russia’s total exports to India (7.72% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.76% of Russia’s total exports to India (12.66% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 10.82% of Russia’s total exports to India (13.24% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.17% of Russia’s total exports to India (5.27% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
