Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $1,203,372,563, up 24.75% ($238,756,680) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $304,422,227, up 157.32% ($186,116,450) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $898,950,336, up 6.22% ($52,640,230) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $594,528,109, a 18.33% decrease ($133,476,220) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Indonesia was Russia’s 32nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7200% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7079% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Indonesia was Russia’s 51st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 68th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2959% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1411% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Indonesia was Russia’s 18th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 13th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.3985% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.6141% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 28.16% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (25.92% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 26.95% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (25.78% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 20.07% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (13.52% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.06% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (7.02% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.66% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (8.28% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.63% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.22% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $51,885,219;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $46,464,327;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $39,815,157;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $2,408,889;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,512,204;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $1,331,651;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,211,326.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,650,415;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,355,722.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 31.14% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (28.58% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.18% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (4.82% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
