Russia’s Trade with Kenya

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Kenya totaled $81,049,755, up 23.87% ($15,619,697) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $51,475,873, up 29.16% ($11,620,582) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $29,573,882, up 15.64% ($3,999,115) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $21,901,991, a 53.37% increase ($7,621,467) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Kenya was Russia’s 89th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 93rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0485% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0480% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Kenya was Russia’s 86th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0500% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0475% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Kenya was Russia’s 81st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 85th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0460% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0488% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The major share of Russian exports to Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $675,696;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $673,956.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $4,651,190;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $548,194;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $468,562;
