Russia’s Trade with Luxembourg

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Luxembourg totaled $68,579,179, up 38.02% ($18,890,026) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $17,131,462, up 58.36% ($6,313,340) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $51,447,717, up 32.35% ($12,576,686) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $34,316,255, a 22.33% increase ($6,263,346) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Luxembourg was Russia’s 91st largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 99th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0410% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0365% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 110th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 114th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0167% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0129% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 71st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 74th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0800% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0741% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Luxembourg

The major share of Russian exports to Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 76.06% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (91.97% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.62% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (2.50% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.28% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (1.58% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.12% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (3.88% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,080,878;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $2,701,313;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $201,529;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $138,733;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $135,437;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $68,472.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $128,770.

Russia’s Imports from Luxembourg

The major share of Russian imports from Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 35.36% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (25.72% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 31.33% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (42.29% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.09% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (12.42% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.48% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (14.74% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.98% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (3.46% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $8,436,580;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $1,794,731;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $1,327,931;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $1,213,024;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $940,996;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $736,805;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $393,721.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $1,759,087;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $546,660;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $502,324;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $186,635.
