Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Macedonia totaled $36,754,056, up 0.28% ($101,735) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $10,424,973, down 11.44% ($1,346,604) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $26,329,083, up 5.82% ($1,448,339) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $15,904,110, a 21.32% increase ($2,794,943) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Macedonia was Russia’s 108th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 106th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0220% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0269% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Macedonia was Russia’s 115th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 111th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0101% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0140% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Macedonia was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 86th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0410% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0475% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 77.88% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (61.66% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.86% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (4.02% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.77% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (4.60% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.94% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (21.02% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.74% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (7.23% in the 4th quarter of 2016);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $237,840;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $110,882;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $80,454;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $73,563;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $57,119;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $33,377.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,959,420;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $691,839;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $127,584;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $64,515.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 56.61% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (68.63% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.22% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (18.57% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 12.41% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (3.75% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 9.69% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (7.47% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
