Russia’s Trade with Paraguay

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Paraguay totaled $245,178,293, up 4.49% ($10,533,314) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $4,975,417, down 30.52% ($2,185,363) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $240,202,876, up 5.59% ($12,718,677) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $235,227,459, a 6.76% increase ($14,904,040) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Paraguay was Russia’s 69th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 65th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1467% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1722% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Paraguay was Russia’s 131st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 120th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0048% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0085% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Paraguay was Russia’s 41st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 37th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3737% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4339% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Paraguay

The major share of Russian exports to Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 87.68% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (58.46% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.12% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (1.78% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.85% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (8.27% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.55% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (26.00% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (4.74% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $246,998;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $71,683;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $69,652;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $62,210;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $41,484;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $17,614.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $1,784,914;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $506,620;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $339,371;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $43,782;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $20,687.

Russia’s Imports from Paraguay

The major share of Russian imports from Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.98% of Russia’s total imports from Paraguay (100.00% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Paraguay in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $9,491,386;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $1,807,457;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - an increase of $882,661.
