Russia’s Trade with Singapore

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Singapore totaled $1,339,348,672, up 83.40% ($609,043,029) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $692,507,666, up 16.10% ($96,052,334) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $646,841,006, up 383.26% ($512,990,695) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $45,666,660, a 90.13% decrease ($416,938,361) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Singapore was Russia’s 30th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 39th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8013% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5359% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Singapore was Russia’s 34th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 30th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6732% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.7114% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Singapore was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 50th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.0063% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2553% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Singapore

The major share of Russian exports to Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 71.06% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (85.72% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 19.46% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (10.91% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.43% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (0.99% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.70% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (1.76% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $81,515,472;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $2,310,788;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,301,431.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $17,229,020;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $11,651,683;
  • Nickel and articles thereof (HS code 75) - a decrease of $5,453,209.

Russia’s Imports from Singapore

The major share of Russian imports from Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 91.74% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (61.50% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.18% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (24.21% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.14% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (4.66% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.97% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (3.92% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.81% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (5.30% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $2,186,778.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Singapore in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $12,723,669;
