Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $341,367,802, up 10.38% ($32,099,281) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $61,378,972, up 60.17% ($23,057,510) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $279,988,830, up 3.34% ($9,041,771) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $218,609,858, a 6.03% decrease ($14,015,739) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Slovenia was Russia’s 61st largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 57th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2042% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2270% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 81st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 88th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0597% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0457% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 37th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 34th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4356% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5168% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 84.43% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (68.43% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.09% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (18.96% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.91% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (6.56% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.10% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.67% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.77% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (3.13% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $25,600,631;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $513,227;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $342,030;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $319,468;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $314,616;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $246,925;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $227,448.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $3,742,505;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $992,326;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $411,073.

Russia’s Imports from Slovenia

The major share of Russian imports from Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 56.15% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (55.01% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 29.47% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (32.79% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.24% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (4.46% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.19% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.98% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.80% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.23% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.99% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (1.22% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $15,848,347;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $5,507,503;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,507,926;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $1,426,740;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $1,401,584;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $966,624.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $11,012,415;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $9,910,532;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $1,264,272.
