Russia’s Trade with the Dominican Republic

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with the Dominican Republic totaled $11,103,384, up 13.48% ($1,319,240) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $4,821,797, up 15.92% ($662,293) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from the Dominican Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $6,281,587, up 11.68% ($656,947) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with the Dominican Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $1,459,790, a 0.36% decrease ($5,346) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 132nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 130th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0066% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0072% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 133rd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 127th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0047% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0050% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 101st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 104th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0098% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0107% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.62% of Russia’s total exports to the Dominican Republic (4.08% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.21% of Russia’s total exports to the Dominican Republic (0.25% in the 4th quarter of 2016);

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $344,974;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $28,439;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $27,526.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,985,394;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $135,400.

Russia’s Imports from the Dominican Republic

The major share of Russian imports from the Dominican Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 51.22% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (44.83% in the 4th quarter of 2016);

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from the Dominican Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $400,744;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $262,135;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $174,175;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - a decrease of $20,223.
