Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $236,325,388, up 63.56% ($91,834,748) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $114,534,649, up 138.53% ($66,518,373) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $121,790,739, up 26.24% ($25,316,375) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $7,256,090, a 85.03% decrease ($41,201,998) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

The Philippines was Russia’s 70th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 75th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1414% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1060% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The Philippines was Russia’s 71st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 82nd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1113% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0573% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The Philippines was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 59th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1895% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1840% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 41.03% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (51.98% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 26.06% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (28.04% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 24.54% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.60% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.82% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (12.81% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.45% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (4.83% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.02% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (1.60% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $23,919,718;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $22,026,027;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $16,779,531;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $3,818,794;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $465,603;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $417,722.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $443,211;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $357,502.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 82.24% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (80.63% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.21% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (10.70% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.91% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (4.79% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
