Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Tunisia was $109,946,441, down 7.19% ($8,515,443) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $79,062,647, down 13.39% ($12,224,088) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $30,883,794, up 13.65% ($3,708,645) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $48,178,853, a 24.85% decrease ($15,932,733) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Tunisia was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 82nd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0658% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0869% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Tunisia was Russia’s 76th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 73rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0769% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1089% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Tunisia was Russia’s 80th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0480% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0518% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 44.27% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (48.68% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 40.37% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (38.57% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.96% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (9.77% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.08% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (1.02% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.45% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (1.65% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $5,877,126;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $5,273,145;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,487,632;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $829,401;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $539,237;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $507,070.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $15,314,105;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $8,422,566;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,360,185;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $726,368;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $277,826.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 52.03% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (56.48% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.74% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (23.55% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.63% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (14.14% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.65% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (2.41% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $352,162;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $216,004;
  • Footwear, gaiters and the like; parts of such articles (HS code 64) - an increase of $181,858;

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $247,241;
