In 2017, Russia’s trade with Cyprus was $314,364,424, down 6.01% ($20,091,165) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in 2017 totaled $306,260,534, up 8.29% ($23,449,704) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in 2017 were $8,103,890, down 84.31% ($43,540,869) from 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in 2017 was $298,156,644, a 28.98% increase ($66,990,573) over 2016.

Cyprus was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in 2017 (down from 83rd in 2016), accounting for 0.0538% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0715% in 2016).

Cyprus was Russia’s 74th largest export market in 2017 (down from 73rd in 2016), accounting for 0.0858% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0991% in 2016).

Cyprus was Russia’s 120th largest supplier in 2017 (down from 91st in 2016), accounting for 0.0036% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0283% in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 64.91% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (54.26% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.67% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (11.25% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.78% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.58% in 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.84% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.13% in 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.21% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (22.17% in 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.64% in 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $45,221,423;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $8,372,724;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $6,896,165;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,751,012.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $50,387,937;
  • Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - a decrease of $8,571,979;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $4,986,971;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $4,056,613;
  • Nickel and articles thereof (HS code 75) - a decrease of $3,692,595;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,670,010.
