Russia’s imports from Iraq in 2017 totaled $39,599, up 439,888.89% ($39,590) from 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Iraq in 2017 was $1,402,570,912, a 52.98% increase ($485,760,821) over 2016.

Iraq was Russia’s 58th largest trading partner in 2017 (up from 61st in 2016), accounting for 0.2402% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1960% in 2016).

Iraq was Russia’s 44th largest export market in 2017 (up from 48th in 2016), accounting for 0.3928% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3211% in 2016).

Iraq was Russia’s 179th largest supplier in 2017 (up from 233rd in 2016), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (just as in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Iraq

The major share of Russian exports to Iraq in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 25.88% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (4.76% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.41% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (2.64% in 2016);

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $5,499,350;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $4,768,103;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $4,552,875.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Iraq in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $16,910,093.
