In 2017, Russia’s trade with Kuwait totaled $707,939,502, up 47.45% ($227,824,180) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Kuwait in 2017 totaled $707,637,419, up 47.43% ($227,646,855) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Kuwait in 2017 totaled $302,083, up 142.14% ($177,325) from 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kuwait in 2017 was $707,335,336, a 47.40% increase ($227,469,530) over 2016.

Kuwait was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in 2017 (up from 76th in 2016), accounting for 0.1212% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1026% in 2016).

Kuwait was Russia’s 59th largest export market in 2017 (up from 65th in 2016), accounting for 0.1982% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1681% in 2016).

Kuwait was Russia’s 157th largest supplier in 2017 (up from 165th in 2016), accounting for 0.0001% of Russia’s total imports (just as in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Kuwait

The major share of Russian exports to Kuwait in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 93.53% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (97.82% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.11% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (0.04% in 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.64% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (1.20% in 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.12% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (0.75% in 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Kuwait in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $192,549,071;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $21,258,248;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $3,958,246;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $3,033,550.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kuwait in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Kuwait

The major share of Russian imports from Kuwait in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 99.09% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (48.09% in 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.77% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (49.27% in 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Kuwait in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $279,256;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,886.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Kuwait in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $51,485;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $39,576;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $9,986;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $3,285.
