In 2017, Russia’s trade with Portugal totaled $1,440,109,144, up 36.82% ($387,552,179) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Portugal in 2017 totaled $963,631,585, up 46.67% ($306,617,668) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Portugal in 2017 totaled $476,477,559, up 20.46% ($80,934,511) from 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Portugal in 2017 was $487,154,026, a 86.31% increase ($225,683,157) over 2016.

Portugal was Russia’s 56th largest trading partner in 2017 (up from 58th in 2016), accounting for 0.2466% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2250% in 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 49th largest export market in 2017 (up from 58th in 2016), accounting for 0.2699% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2301% in 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 56th largest supplier in 2017 (down from 54th in 2016), accounting for 0.2099% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2170% in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Portugal

The major share of Russian exports to Portugal in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 90.98% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (82.60% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.54% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (2.90% in 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.27% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (2.80% in 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.52% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (2.27% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.99% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (2.48% in 2016);

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $4,491,018;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $4,358,027.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Portugal in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $36,313,659;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $4,359,684;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,404,343.
