Russia’s Trade with Slovakia

In 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovakia totaled $5,260,138,024, up 26.37% ($1,097,697,945) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovakia in 2017 totaled $3,253,360,684, up 30.29% ($756,324,117) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovakia in 2017 totaled $2,006,777,340, up 20.50% ($341,373,828) from 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Slovakia in 2017 was $1,246,583,344, a 49.90% increase ($414,950,289) over 2016.

Slovakia was Russia’s 24th largest trading partner in 2017 (up from 25th in 2016), accounting for 0.9006% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.8899% in 2016).

Slovakia was Russia’s 27th largest export market in 2017 (just as in 2016), accounting for 0.9111% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.8746% in 2016).

Slovakia was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in 2017 (down from 26th in 2016), accounting for 0.8842% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9137% in 2016).

The major share of Russian exports to Slovakia in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 89.09% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (86.36% in 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.45% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (4.93% in 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.78% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (5.17% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.94% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (2.65% in 2016).

  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $24,236,940;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $24,080,574;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $18,507,373.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovakia in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $41,928,451;

Russia’s Imports from Slovakia

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.33% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (8.63% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.08% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (2.55% in 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.87% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (1.91% in 2016);
