Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $1,230,777,871, up 24.24% ($240,106,755) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2017 totaled $268,032,210, up 46.44% ($85,003,696) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in 2017 totaled $962,745,661, up 19.20% ($155,103,059) from 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in 2017 was $694,713,451, a 11.22% increase ($70,099,363) over 2016.

Slovenia was Russia’s 60th largest trading partner in 2017 (down from 59th in 2016), accounting for 0.2107% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2118% in 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 78th largest export market in 2017 (up from 86th in 2016), accounting for 0.0751% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0641% in 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 38th largest supplier in 2017 (down from 36th in 2016), accounting for 0.4242% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4431% in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.76% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (67.08% in 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.85% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (5.98% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.09% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (22.34% in 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.58% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.41% in 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.45% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.40% in 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $101,731,555;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $5,323,724;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $1,700,171;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,677,748;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,389,991;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,020,537.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $16,351,528;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $9,989,875;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,281,822;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $825,117.

Russia’s Imports from Slovenia

The major share of Russian imports from Slovenia in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 26.86% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (28.66% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.51% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (5.71% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.08% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (3.36% in 2016);
