In 2017, Russia’s trade with Spain totaled $5,339,733,105, up 20.62% ($912,941,256) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Spain in 2017 totaled $2,213,567,220, up 13.34% ($260,480,923) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Spain in 2017 totaled $3,126,165,885, up 26.38% ($652,460,333) from 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Spain in 2017 was $912,598,665, a 75.29% increase ($391,979,410) over 2016.

Spain was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in 2017 (down from 21st in 2016), accounting for 0.9143% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.9464% in 2016).

Spain was Russia’s 34th largest export market in 2017 (down from 33rd in 2016), accounting for 0.6199% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.6841% in 2016).

Spain was Russia’s 19th largest supplier in 2017 (down from 17th in 2016), accounting for 1.3774% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3572% in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Spain

The major share of Russian exports to Spain in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 72.50% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (72.36% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.09% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (15.64% in 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.63% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (4.87% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.94% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (3.87% in 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Spain in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $7,119,537.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Spain in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $25,252,850;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $19,749,263;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $15,244,084;
