Russia’s Trade with Albania

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Albania totaled $20,542,542, up 30.24% ($4,769,550) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $15,648,619, up 31.26% ($3,726,891) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $4,893,923, up 27.07% ($1,042,659) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $10,754,696, a 33.26% increase ($2,684,232) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Albania was Russia’s 120th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 117th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0130% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0123% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Albania was Russia’s 111th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 109th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0152% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0143% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Albania was Russia’s 107th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 108th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0090% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0085% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Albania

The major share of Russian exports to Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 53.44% of Russia’s total exports to Albania (46.84% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 32.62% of Russia’s total exports to Albania (39.47% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.67% of Russia’s total exports to Albania (7.03% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.24% of Russia’s total exports to Albania (5.12% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $1,652,848;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $1,314,943;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $396,562;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $253,788;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $230,495;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $86,950;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $73,726.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $214,145;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $104,071.

Russia’s Imports from Albania

The major share of Russian imports from Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 96.91% of Russia’s total imports from Albania (93.53% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.47% of Russia’s total imports from Albania (1.42% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - an increase of $839,502;
  • Footwear, gaiters and the like; parts of such articles (HS code 64) - an increase of $436,999;
  • Articles of leather; saddlery and harness; travel goods, handbags and similar containers; articles of animal gut (other than silkworm gut) (HS code 42) - an increase of $20,420;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $17,747.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Albania in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - a decrease of $135,782;
  • Toys, games and sports requisites; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 95) - a decrease of $101,870;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $24,706.
