Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $247,504,573, up 46.78% ($78,881,612) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $23,066,374, up 28.80% ($5,158,101) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $224,438,199, up 48.92% ($73,723,511) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $201,371,825, a 51.63% increase ($68,565,410) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Chile was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1570% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1312% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Chile was Russia’s 101st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0224% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0215% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Chile was Russia’s 38th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 43rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4110% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3333% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 38.08% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (29.99% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 34.93% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (44.10% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.12% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (11.71% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.56% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (3.61% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.15% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (6.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.61% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.21% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $179,564;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $179,517;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $612,162;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $425,727;

  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $84,458.
