Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $80,241,981, down 38.33% ($49,869,366) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $58,349,258, down 44.19% ($46,208,836) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $21,892,723, down 14.33% ($3,660,530) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $36,456,535, a 53.86% decrease ($42,548,306) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Colombia was Russia’s 86th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 74th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0509% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1012% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Colombia was Russia’s 80th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 64th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0566% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1255% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Colombia was Russia’s 85th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 82nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0401% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0565% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 62.13% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (77.95% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.78% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (13.49% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 9.01% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (1.66% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.50% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (6.26% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.31% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (0.56% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,495,039;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,075,336;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $881,117;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $828,968;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $534,976;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $199,370.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $45,250,528;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $4,219,452;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,319,991;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $434,820;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $422,506;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $223,641.

Russia’s Imports from Colombia

The major share of Russian imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 88.73% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (84.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 5.73% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (12.58% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.33% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (0.77% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $3,804,828;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $513,037;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - an increase of $457,380;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $192,495;
  • Albuminoidal substances; modified starches; glues; enzymes (HS code 35) - an increase of $116,500.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $2,958,784;
  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - a decrease of $2,301,963;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,959,884;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $1,202,996;
  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $226,000;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $83,441.
