Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $133,623,826, up 55.56% ($47,726,685) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $131,128,066, up 58.53% ($48,414,450) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $2,495,760, down 21.60% ($687,765) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $128,632,306, a 61.74% increase ($49,102,215) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Cyprus was Russia’s 77th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 84th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0848% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0668% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 72nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1273% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0993% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 119th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 111th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0046% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0070% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 81.19% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (56.94% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.81% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (2.90% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.40% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.18% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.72% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.09% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.38% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (7.35% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.69% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.72% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $59,360,800;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $7,098,353;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $4,823,774;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,228,546;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - an increase of $532,666.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $1,443,022;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $880,513;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $863,506.

Russia’s Imports from Cyprus

The major share of Russian imports from Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 69.11% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (64.62% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.83% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (9.98% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.66% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (19.06% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.63% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (2.58% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.45% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (0.03% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
