Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Ecuador totaled $418,281,529, up 4.49% ($17,989,743) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $55,622,803, up 8.27% ($4,248,622) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $362,658,726, up 3.94% ($13,741,121) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $307,035,923, a 3.19% increase ($9,492,499) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Ecuador was Russia’s 53rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 46th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2654% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3114% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Ecuador was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0540% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0616% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Ecuador was Russia’s 32nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 30th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6641% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7717% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 50.10% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (52.06% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 26.93% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (29.97% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.24% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (13.20% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.47% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (1.79% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.07% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (2.59% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.15% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (0.14% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $2,144,965;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,249,249;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - an increase of $563,504;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $189,491.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $3,611,211;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $961,496;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $413,525;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $288,286;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $230,651.

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.95% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.99% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $14,348,157;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $4,757,995;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $3,150,636.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $4,950,007;
