Russia’s Trade with Ghana

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Ghana was $46,800,594, down 34.88% ($25,071,500) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $24,590,132, down 56.13% ($31,459,691) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $22,210,462, up 40.37% ($6,388,191) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $2,379,670, a 94.08% decrease ($37,847,882) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Ghana was Russia’s 96th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 90th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0297% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0559% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Ghana was Russia’s 100th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 80th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0239% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0673% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Ghana was Russia’s 84th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 89th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0407% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0350% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Ghana

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 58.33% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (3.57% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.99% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (5.66% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 10.08% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (5.57% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.88% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (84.93% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.71% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (0.22% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $12,161,165;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,148,822;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $333,163;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $233,487;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $181,391.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $45,913,950;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $644,499.

Russia’s Imports from Ghana

The major share of Russian imports from Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.41% of Russia’s total imports from Ghana (99.77% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $6,227,747;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $96,317.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
