Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $21,350,452, up 53.77% ($7,465,678) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $16,356,550, up 52.68% ($5,643,753) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $4,993,902, up 57.44% ($1,821,925) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $11,362,648, a 50.68% increase ($3,821,828) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Guatemala was Russia’s 119th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 120th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0135% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0108% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Guatemala was Russia’s 109th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 113th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0159% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0129% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Guatemala was Russia’s 106th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 112th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0091% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0070% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 92.50% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (56.22% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.27% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (29.29% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.90% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (9.00% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.71% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (1.08% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.62% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (4.38% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $9,108,785;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $279,430.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,746,687;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $625,038;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $204,319;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $104,814.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.25% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (97.35% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.41% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (2.56% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $1,779,246;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $954,283;

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $796,020;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $240,480;
  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - a decrease of $60,161;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - a decrease of $43,979;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - a decrease of $16,997.
