Russia’s Trade with Kazakhstan

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Kazakhstan totaled $4,281,351,019, up 11.34% ($436,135,959) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Kazakhstan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $3,054,131,542, up 15.20% ($403,049,403) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Kazakhstan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $1,227,219,477, up 2.77% ($33,086,556) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kazakhstan in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $1,826,912,065, a 25.39% increase ($369,962,847) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 10th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 2.7160% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.9912% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 8th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 9th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 2.9645% of Russia’s total exports (down from 3.1812% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 10th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 9th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 2.2472% of Russia’s total imports (down from 2.6409% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Kazakhstan

The major share of Russian exports to Kazakhstan in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.34% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (23.81% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 21.37% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (19.38% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.79% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (15.51% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
