Russia’s Trade with Luxembourg

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Luxembourg totaled $60,062,095, up 60.72% ($22,692,495) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $17,994,448, up 58.29% ($6,626,395) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $42,067,647, up 61.79% ($16,066,100) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $24,073,199, a 64.51% increase ($9,439,705) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Luxembourg was Russia’s 91st largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 102nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0381% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0291% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 107th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 111th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0175% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0136% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 73rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 81st in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0770% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0575% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Luxembourg

The major share of Russian exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 77.18% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (78.96% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.02% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (13.08% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.01% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (5.29% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (1.59% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.18% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $4,912,164;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $951,651;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $333,166;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $236,652;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $212,972;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $113,458.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $121,728;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $64,342.

Russia’s Imports from Luxembourg

The major share of Russian imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 36.95% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (25.74% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 31.02% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (43.28% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.38% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (10.35% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 13.25% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (14.71% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $202,049.
