Russia’s Trade with Montenegro

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Montenegro totaled $6,581,207, up 115.30% ($3,524,398) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $1,487,395, down 0.67% ($10,068) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $5,093,812, up 226.66% ($3,534,466) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $3,606,417, a 5,727.80% increase ($3,544,534) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Montenegro was Russia’s 138th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 142nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0042% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0024% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Montenegro was Russia’s 148th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 136th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0014% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0018% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Montenegro was Russia’s 104th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 120th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0093% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0034% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Montenegro

The major share of Russian exports to Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 46.91% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (30.64% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 30.57% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (14.66% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.07% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (37.52% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 8.55% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (8.11% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.09% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (8.80% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $277,722;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $254,171;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - an increase of $10,010;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $5,732.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $195,279;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $171,366;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $131,233;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $26,724;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $19,001;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $11,770.

Russia’s Imports from Montenegro

The major share of Russian imports from Montenegro in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 87.67% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (70.36% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.37% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (1.46% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.00% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (8.69% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
