Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Mozambique totaled $12,796,478, up 5.35% ($649,314) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $7,156,062, up 25.28% ($1,444,048) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $5,640,416, down 12.35% ($794,734) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Mozambique went from a deficit of $723,136 in the 1st quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $1,515,646 in the 1st quarter of 2018.

Mozambique was Russia’s 128th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 125th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0081% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0094% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Mozambique was Russia’s 122nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 118th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0069% of Russia’s total exports (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Mozambique was Russia’s 102nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 97th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0103% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0142% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 81.56% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (49.98% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.60% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (40.28% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.79% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (9.70% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $2,866,506;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $83,689;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $31,470.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,443,588;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $68,116;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $27,200.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

The major share of Russian imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 100.00% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (100.00% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $279,753.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $1,036,742;
