Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $326,419,792, up 113.50% ($173,528,173) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $211,153,007, up 330.50% ($162,105,177) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $115,266,785, up 11.00% ($11,422,996) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Pakistan went from a deficit of $54,795,959 in the 1st quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $95,886,222 in the 1st quarter of 2018.

Pakistan was Russia’s 59th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 72nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2071% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1189% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Pakistan was Russia’s 58th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 83rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2050% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0589% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Pakistan was Russia’s 57th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 53rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2111% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2297% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.67% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (26.46% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.21% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (18.38% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.76% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (18.32% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.41% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (21.61% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,122,483;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,078,582;
